Academic Background:

Master's. degree (MSc) in Virology and PhD in Molecular Biology. Honors: The Royal Society (UK) Research Fellowship, London, 1993. The Youth Travel Fund grant, Moscow 1993. Held academic faculty positions at Brown University (2000-2003, Province, RI), University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB, 2007-2014) and Federal funding as a Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator (PI/Col) from the NIH Research Institutes (NIDCR. NCI).

Have 35 years of cumulative working experience in Academia and Biotech Industry, Co-authored of over 60 peer-reviewed publications in high impact factor US and international scientific research journals and 1 US patent (2022).

Biography

Dr. Anton V. Borovjagin was born in 1966 in the former Soviet Union, Graduated from Moscow State University Department of Virology in 1988 and Moscow State University Graduate School (Molecular Biology) in 1991. Performed graduate and a postdoctoral training at the Institute of Physico-Chemical Biology (Former "Belozersky Laboratory"), Moscow State University and then in St. George's Hospital Medical School, University of London, London UK (1993-1994) as a Royal Society Research Fellow. Joined Brown University Department of Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Biochemistry (MCB) Brown University, Rhode Island (RI), USA at the end of 1994 as a Research Associate and as an Assistant Professor in 2001. In 2003 left Academia for biotechnology industry for personal reasons (after losing his father to cancer) to work for Vectorlogics Inc. (a UAB spinoff contract research company) in Birmingham, AL specializing in development of targeted human adenovirus (Ad5)-based vectors for cancer gene therapy and virotherapy (oncolytic cancer therapy) applications. In 2005 left the company to take additional training in the gene therapy field as an NIH trainee at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and in 2007 accepted a faculty position at the UAB School of Dentistry (SOD) to continue independent research career in the vector targeting and vector imaging fields for gene therapy applications as part of the SOD Institute of Oral Health Research. In 2016 joined UAB Department of Biomedical Engineering, first as a senior research scientist and later as research support and laboratory manager.

In parallel with his research career investing back in 2014 Dr. Borovjagin started a business by purchasing "Martha's Tailoring" (the oldest alteration shop in Birmingham AL) for his spouse who currently runs the business. And later established "B&Home LLC" in 2020 as a family owned real estate investment and rental company in Birmingham, AL. The company currently owns several rental properties in Alabama and Florida and since 2021 Dr. Also also started owning (as private investor) several properties in the Dominican Republic.

The establishment of Zettla

The establishment of Zettla in the Dominican Republic with his local business partner as founding partner and investor was a logical continuation of Dr. Borovjagin's business background and new business endeavor that is aimed at taking his real estate business ambitions to a new professional level by providing state-of-the-art foreign investor support services of a conspicuous authenticity utilizing best world practices, high-tech tools of real estate market analysis, and client needs-oriented, highly personalized approach.
